Strategy

... we’ve learned that “widening your aperture” is critical to effective strategy… it’s important to intentionally start the strategy process by exploring and opening yourself up to the full range of possibilities for your organization—taking inspiration from bright spots emerging in the field around you, learning from adjacent spaces and industries, challenging your long-standing orthodoxies, and exploring what’s newly possible given changes in the world around you—before then narrowing down and honing in on the strategies that are right for you.

Cadence takes a collaborative approach to strategic planning. This process offers time for reflection, exploration of context, identification of opportunities, and building relationships among team members that support strategic plan execution.

We use methods that allow for inward reflection and outward exploration.

Inward reflection

who are we, what is our mission, what do we value, whom do we serve, what do we create, what assets might we draw from, where might we collaborate

Outward Exploration

how is our local and world context shifting, what new opportunities does this open up, what are others doing that might give us inspiration

It is the combination of inward assessment and outward perspective that forms the foundation of strategic planning.

We then bring participants together for accelerated strategic workshops to build a plan and generate approaches for early experimentation of proposed ideas.

Teams often develop several strategic scenarios and benefit from the use of experimentation to refine and adjust the direction of their initiatives.

In addition to strategic plan development, Cadence offers half and full day strategic exploration workshops and creates research briefs for clients to use as input to ongoing strategic work.
